Over the past three years, Providence has seen some of the highest average rent increases in the country. As a result, our community is getting priced out. Young people are moving away. Eviction and homelessness rates are increasing. And meanwhile, the corporate landlords are raking in profits.

That's why we're building a movement to make Providence affordable for all.

Our City Council just approved a Rent Stabilization ordinance, which would put a limit on the amount by which landlords can raise the rent. Then, our wealthy Mayor, Brett Smiley, vetoed it the very next day. Now, we're fighting to override Mayor Smiley by getting a supermajority of City Councilors to vote in favor of Rent Stabilization.

We're holding a series of weekend canvasses to get the community engaged in the fight for stabilized rents. Come out and join us - all are welcome! We'll do a quick training, then we'll partner up to knock doors and talk to community members about Rent Stabilization. No canvassing experience necessary. Come on out and help us make the city we love more affordable!
